The Compound is a family-owned gym built from small beginnings. We were a mere concrete pad with 2 bars, no dumbbells, and 8 stall mats. Our first paying member is still with us today, and what was meant to be a 3-month stint in the garage turned into 5 years.
What we called the Fabry homestead became The Compound, and now rebranded as Desert Compound CrossFit.
Between the goats, chickens, tortoises, cats, dogs, monsoons, 15 degree days, 115 degree days, our members thrived in humble surroundings because they valued good coaching and an irreplaceable community.
We had 6 amazing CrossFit Opens at The Compound, and the community grew despite the weather and square footage. Reya became the official gym dog in 2022, Brandon Fabry qualified for the 2024 CrossFit Games Semifinals, and in 2026 15-year old Logan Flagg qualified for Age Group Semifinals—all in front of our three goats.
And more than that, It grew because of the people who found us.
What we bring is a higher quality experience you won’t find in any other gym.
We are a community built on values, and a gym built around becoming a better version of yourself every day. We would love for you to join us.

Our Philosophy
The compound is for absolutely anyone.
If you want to get into shape for the first time, get back into shape, or try to see what you’re capable of in the gym, The Compound is your home away from home.
Scaling is cool.
Our programming is adaptable to any level of fitness. The best method for an individual to improve is to meet themselves where they’re at. Jumping too far too soon is just as ineffective as staying in the same spot too long. We will always find a scale that moves that needle 1% every day.
Age is just a number.
Through empirical evidence shown daily, no matter how old or young you are, there is always potential. Perhaps the greatest example is Andrea Fabry (or HR as she is called,) the mother of Colin and Brandon. She never touched a barbell until she was 59 years old. She has since improved in every facet of general fitness, 10 years later. She got her first Chest to Bar Pull-up when she was in her 60s. It’s never too late to show yourself you are capable.
